How to Manually Update the DocStar Client on a Workstation

After a DocStar update, some users may need to manually update the local DocStar client on their workstation to maintain compatibility. This guide walks you through that process step by step.

? Prerequisites

Before starting:
- Make sure you are logged into DocStar in your web browser
- You may need admin rights on the PC to complete the install
- Close all DocStar-related programs before beginning

? Step 1: Check for Client Update

1. Log in to DocStar using your browser.
2. Navigate to the Capture tab.
3. In the Scan section, click the "Display Status" link.

You may see messages like:
- “Selected client needs to be updated.”
- “Epicor ECM (DocStar) Client Update Available.”
- Or, if not yet installed: “No Epicor ECM (DocStar) clients available.”

⬇️ Step 2: Download and Install the Update

1. Click on the Display Status to open a popup.
2. Select your client or click “Install / Update Client Services.”

? Step 4: Verify or Reconfigure the Client (If Needed)

In some cases, your client settings may reset. If you see “No Clients Available” after the update, follow these steps:

 1. Locate the DocStar Client icon in your system tray (bottom-right of the screen near the clock) and open it.

3. If changes are made, you’ll be prompted to enter your DocStar credentials.- Once correctly entered, you should see two green checkmarks indicating successful connection.

Note: In multi-user environments (e.g., shared workstations), the Configure Service tab may use a different username. If that’s the case, it’s safe to leave it unchanged.
