How to Install the DocStar (Epicor ECM) Client
To use features like scanning and importing on the Capture tab in DocStar (Epicor ECM), you must install the Epicor ECM Client on your workstation. This short guide walks you through the process.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Log in to your DocStar site in your browser using the address your organization uses (e.g.,
http://servername/EclipseWeb
).Click on the Capture tab at the top of the page.
Step 2: Download the Client Installer
You will either:
See a pop-up like the one in the screenshot, with a button labeled Install Client Services,
ORSee a link at the top of the Capture tab that says “No Epicor ECM (DocStar) Clients Available” — click this text to reveal a similar Install/Update Client button.
The exact message may vary slightly, but the installer link will always appear in that spot near the top of the Capture tab.
Step 3: Run the Installer
Download the client installer.
Once downloaded, run the installer. (You may need to right-click and choose Run as Administrator, depending on system settings.)
Let the installation complete — no other setup files or downloads are needed.
Step 4: Log In to the Client
Open the Epicor ECM Client from your Start menu or system tray.
Go to the Login tab.
Enter the Epicor ECM URL (the same one you used in your browser, e.g.,
http://servername/EclipseWeb
).Enter your username (typically your email address).
Click Login — you’ll be prompted to enter your DocStar password.
Step 5: Confirm Client Connection
Go back to your browser.
Refresh the Capture tab — you should now see the client status change to connected.
Scanning and importing features should now be active.
